Congrats to the Finns today. Not only did their hockey team stomp Canada 5-0 to get the bronze at the World Championships, but they also won their first Eurovision song contest! And, in typical Finnish fashion, they did it with death metal. Funny, funny, death metal, with great horror costumes and everything. Actually, it's a pretty damned good little rock song. I think it has actually managed to replace the Dead Kennedys cover of Viva Las Vegas that I've had stuck in my head for a week now.
Finally invested in a good set of computer speakers with a subwoofer, the JBL Creatures that I've been wanting forever, but just never got up the gumption to buy. And I'm glad I did, because I also just got the new Scott Walker album, which really requires some serious bass capabilities. Extremely difficult listening. In a good way, but definitely not for everyone. I still can't figure out what happened to my copy of Boy Child, though, and it's driving me nuts. It was a rip from an old coworker, I should probably just buy a new copy. Give Scott some of my money, he deserves it.
Another excellent recent recent purchase: Maria T, new from Alexander Balanescu.
Finally have my domains back! Hooorah!!!
Stupid situation, partly my fault, but mostly someone else's. The domains were about to expire, I paid for the renewal the day they were set to expire, but apparently my registrar didn't care to update the registration (screw you, Nameboy) and they expired. After five days of trying to contact them at every address on their website (no phone number), I finally just called the main registrar and had the domains released to I could transfer them to real registrar, and contacted my bank to get my money back from Nameboy. Today the transfer finally went through, and my money was credited back, so I'm back in business.
It was probably a good thing not to have a blog last week, since the Flames lost in 7 to Anaheim, so I had to keep my moaning to myself (and all the message boards). And this week I'm feeling a bit better about the loss, since Colorado aren't faring any better against the Ducks (actually, quite a bit worse), and it came out that a number of key Flames were playing with relatively serious injuries. Ah well, I'm ready for next season.
Having my domains back is a load off, though. I will remember next time to renew them earlier...
